Kindergarten Fees

Kindy is free for eligible age children for 15 hours per week for 40 weeks. We are proud to deliver our government-approved kindergarten program across all our centres.

What are my kindergarten fees?

Kindy is free for eligible age children (those turning 4 by 30 June, in the year they attend kindy) for 15 hours per week for 40 weeks (up to a maximum of 600 hours a year).

If your child is attending kindy in a second group or as a three year old, fees may apply (known as the non-eligible fee). These fees are different for each kindy and are available to view on the kindy's web page. The non-eligble fee is updated every year in December for the following year.

Queensland Kindergarten Funding Program

Free Kindy is a Queensland Government initiative that enables families with eligible-age children access to 15 hours of free kindergarten per week, 40 weeks.

Funding is available when a qualified early childhood teacher delivers the kindergarten program in a government-approved sessional kindergarten, childcare centre or C&K extended hours kindergarten.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for free kindy, your enrolled child must be of eligible age (turning 4 years old by 30 June, in the year they attend kindy). Please check the table to see when your child can attend kindy.

Other fees

A one-off, non-refundable enrolment fee of $100 is required when you complete your enrolment at a C&K branch kindy, to confirm your place.

This fee is not subsidised and is issued to cover the administrative costs of your child's enrolment at a C&K branch kindy. However, the enrolment fee can be waived if you are an eligible concession care holder. Please discuss this with your centre's Director.

How to claim free kindy?

If your child is enrolled at two sessional kindergartens, for the same enrolment period, you must choose which centre receives the funding when you complete your enrolment. If your child is enrolled at a sessional kindergarten and a kindy program at a childcare centre, you can only claim it at the kindergarten.

If you have already completed your enrolment and did not nominate a centre or would like to change your nominated centre, you will need to complete an Updated Details Form available from your C&K kindy.

You will also be required to provide evidence of your child's date of birth (for example, a birth certificate, passport, statutory declaration or other government-issued document stating your child's date of birth).

Other funding available

C&K is a not-for-profit early childhood education and care provider, and we are committed to maximising family access to available funding.

We encourage you to contact your C&K kindy directly for more information to discuss your child and your family's situation. Depending on your family circumstances, other funding may be available to you, and C&K can support you in accessing these.

Can my 3-year-old go to kindy?

Priority is given to eligible-age children, however, if places are available, we are happy to have 3 year old children attend kindy for 2 years.

The free kindy funding does not apply for 3 year old children and the non-eligible fee will apply until your child reaches eligible-age.

We encourage you to contact your C&K kindy directly for more information on fees for three year olds and to discuss your child and your family's situation.
